Writing Studio Hours & Location

*The Writing Studio is now open for Spring 2015!

Spring 2015 Hours:
Tuesdays 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
Thursdays 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

E-mail us, submit the appointment form online, or simply stop by the library to schedule an appointment for writing assistance. We are happy to help!

*Hours are subject to change. Additional appointment times may be available if scheduled in advance. 




The Writing Studio offers free academic and professional writing assistance to students of all levels and disciplines.  

From brainstorming to documentaion to resumes,
the WS provides guidance from experienced writers trained to help you enhance your writing skills for inside and outside the classroom.

Update 1/20: Spring 2015 Hours Posted!

Update 12/9: Closed for the Holidays!

Update 11/4: New Name and New Resources for Faculty and Students

An array of new resources have been added to the Writing Studio's (new name!) LibGuide. Please browse and utilize the plethora of handouts, workshops, and exercises that have been recently added to assist you with your writing needs and concerns. Also, please let us know if you have any specific requests for tutorials.

Update 9/11: Big Changes Coming to the WC

The WC is currently undergoing a transformation. Expect to see a new name, new logo, and most importantly, more accessible hours and opportunities for academic and/or professional writing assistance for students at any level.

Update 8/26: Schedule Your Appointments Online! 

We've made it even easier for you to schedule an appointment with a WC tutor. Simply click on the "Schedule An Appointment" tab, and complete and submit the form. Don't forget to look at the Appointment Checklist so you are prepared for your visit.

Update 8/21: Fall 2014 Writing Center Updates 

The Writing Center at Watkins is currently in the process of updating and adding helpful materials and writing assistance opportunities to the website. We welcome your feedback and suggestions as we broaden our offerings.

Update 8/19: New Addition to the Writing Center at Watkins

Lisa E. Williams is the new Writing Center Manager. Lisa has worked in multiple writing centers and is also an English and Women's Studies lecturer at Middle Tennessee State University. 

You can also contact Lisa Williams, our backup tutor, regarding questions about the Writing Center.  While she is the director of the library, she got her start as a writing center tutor. She worked as a tutor for two years while completing a Master's Degree in English. She has also taught English and beginning French classes and is a certified ESL instructor.

  • Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue
    OWL at Purdue is one of most notorious writing and documentation online resources. Familiarize yourself with the site; all info is regularly updated so you can refer to the site throughout your college career.
